The Panama 3: Torrijos, Carew, Toohill
When asked the other day to name the 3 biggest names in Panama, I could only come up with General Omar Torrijos, 2nd Baseman Rod Carew, but no third man. Then I received an email that none other than Pete Toohill (supposedly pictured here) is travelling or has travelled to Panama on a trade mission to retrieve some lost hogs that got away some 15 years ago.
Good luck Senor Toohill! Anyone else know Wapella residents with Panamanian connections? I have one big name from WW2.

Is Pete's trip to Panama confirmed? RJT, IRBW is this fact or fiction?
Did Pete bring his Ipod and was he blarin the Van Halen if you know what I mean?
bbd
BBD, it is a confirmed fact. Not sure if Van Halen's 1984 album was a carry on item for the trip. Any coincidence in the timing of Fidel Castro stepping down around the same time the cruise through the Canal started? I have to think shorts and bright irish midwest legs had something to do with it.
IRBW
Though his Wapella connections are tenuous, Republican presidential candidate John McCain was born in the Panama Canal zone in 1936.
Another prominent Catholic once wrote about Cuba, Mr. Graham Greene. I'm sure Pete shares Mr. Greene's fondness for the rumba, and his amazingly non-sun friendly Western European complexion.
Viva la revolution!
Better dead than red!
Too easy, next!
Mickey Mouse!
The tin horn dictator reference reminds me of a letter to the late, great WFB II. The writer asked why M. Gadaffi was only a colonel. WFG II responded that he must have killed all of the generals.
Can we get a thread going on great dictators? Does the Mod's hair cut remind anyone of Kim Jong Il? Is KJI's last name short for "Illinois"?

The Mercury girl is Jill Wagner
She'd make a good Wonder Woman.
Way off thread, has anyone heard the remake of that great 70's song, "Chevy Van"? Heard it on the radio yesterday.
Even further off thread, both The Circle and Pit Row have no ambiance having gone smoke free.

The picture looks alot like Lawrence Toohill. By the way, get well wishes goes out to Lawrence for having ankle surgery.
IRBW
Big Thanks to IRBW for his hospitality this week and for taking the time to explain commodities trading.

More Mercury Girl please.
