Wapella.com Mourns the Passing of Helen Thomas
Helen Thomas, a long time teacher at Wapella Grade School has died in Missouri at age 84. Mrs. Thomas was the wife of Melvin Thomas, and mother of Paul and Rhoda Thomas. Mrs Thomas was a genuinely pleasant teacher, and will be remembered by the many students and friends she had in the Wapella School System and Wapella Community. The Wapella Flag flies at 1/2 mast today for Wapella Wildcat, Mrs. Helen Thomas. Our condolences to the Thomas family.

R.I.P. Mrs. Thomas. Had her twice early on, for Kindergarten and 4th grade. Very sorry to hear this.
Have to agree with EEP. While I only had her for Kindergarten and the memories are fuzzy... I enjoyed having her as a teacher. My condolences go out to the family.
My condolences to the Thomas family. Mrs. Thomas was my kind and gentle first grade teacher, along with I believe, several w.com contributers including BEP and SoCal. BEP and I shared a two-seater desk for a time in those days. Her son Paul was an awesome b-ball player.
HG
Didn't have Mrs. Thomas for a teacher, but do remember her quite well from other activities. Very patient and kind. My thoughts are with her family.
Yes, HG, you, BEP and I were all in the same first grade class, taught by sweet Mrs. Thomas. My condolences to her family on their loss. She positively impacted many lives in her career. God rest her soul.
SoCal
Mrs. Thomas was a fine lady who made a very positive impression on many young minds. She was almost like another grandmother.
I was fortunate enough to have her as my very first educator. Classmates like SoCal and HG made the experience even more memorable.
The Class of 1979 is probably Hog City's greatest ever.
BEP
She had a warm, calm way about her as she welcomed many a frightened kindergartner to their very first day of school. Sitting around her in the rocking chair, being read to, is to this day a fine school day memory. Condolences to the Thomas family on your loss.

MICKEY MOUSE!
As the graffiti of the day in Wapella noted (and said graffiti was stolen from a RATT tee-shirt):
'91 Rocks, Rolls and Controls!
The class of 1991's roll-call can compete with the best of 'em.
EEP & BEP,
Maybe you two had better take it outside. This thread is dedicated to Mrs. Thomas!
HG
Wouldn't '82 be the best class?
Yes, class of '82 was the finest. The Mod, DIT, AW, the Love Triangle and many more were all members of this class. We're #1!!!!
