His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with military honors. J. Kent Hickerson will officiate. There will be no visitation. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be sent to Carle Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
He was born Oct. 24, 1932, in Wapella, the son of Paul P. and Martha Jane Collins Holland. He married Mary M. Morris on April 26, 1977, in Clinton. She survives in Clinton.
Also surviving are his children, David Holland, Wapella; Elizabeth (Rick) Lord, Clinton; and Cheryl (Larry) Rich, Weldon; stepchildren, Patty (Dennis) Rich, McLean; Ricky Ritter, Wapella; Rusty Ritter, Clinton; and Roger (Charlotte) Ritter, Clinton; siblings, Ronald (Joyce) Holland, Maroa; Betty (Bill) Ellis, Clinton; Kathy (Vernon) Meadows, Wapella; Bev (Charlie) Kraft, Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Ralph Holland, Heyworth; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandson.
He served in the U.S. Army. He owned and operated Holland Brothers Plumbing, Wapella, for many years. He had his pilot license and enjoyed flying. He also enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. John Holland was a great businessman, neighbor and friend. He will be sadly missed by the Village of Wapella.
