Your Assistance Please

Please Click Here to Help

All of our regular readers know that Wapella.com has been a great supporter of the great dogs in Wapella history. Who can forget Sooner, King, Roscoe, Petey and the many other animals who have been such great companions over the years?

So, we were lucky enough to be given the chance to assist with another great dog, only this one is the type can help out a boy with deep Wapella roots who is in a bit of a challenge.

Shelby (nee Powers WHS '93), Steve, and Chris Svendsen are raising funds to obtain a guide dog for their son (and brother) Sean Svendsen, a boy who needs the assistance of a guide dog to help him integrate with his classmates, provide stability, and, most importantly provide safety, security, and freedom.

The family has established a website, and it would be most appropriate and welcome if our loyal readers can help out here. They need to raise a bit of funds, and are holding a fundraiser or two, and ponying up is just a click away.

Here is much more information

As our contributor BEP has suggested, we could all empty our "ain't boxes" to assist here, and toss in a few more grammatical errors to top things off. Please generously support Sean Svendsen and his efforts to obtain a guide dog.

Help out and give what you can, folks. This is a VERY worthwhile cause for an amazing young man!

P.S: Shelby was '93, but who's counting....

I've heard of a few out of staters, who do not like doing business over the internet, say they are not comfortable dealing with websites and would prefer to send checks directly to the family.

What would be the best way to do this?

How much do they need for the dog?

Physical Mailing procedure is:

To donate directly to 4 Paws in Sean’s name:
If by check, please make the check out to “4 Paws For Ability.” In the memo portion of the check, please add “benefiting Sean Svendsen” and mail to:

All are welcome out to my place Saturday evening!

We will be collecting donations and aluminum cans (as well adding to it) for a Morris Tick run "Hoopie Quad style" on Monday. I doubt we have to many Old Blue cans in our pickup load, but you never can tell. All the money from recycling will be donated as well.

Feel free to drop off $ donations at our shop in Clinton. Put it in the marked envelop.

Call me with questions
James 309-261-3602

PS Sean is a cute little kid but the reason I am helping is because of the extreme guilt I feel for making Shelby cry on the school bus all those years. ha ha god bless ya

IT'S A DONE DEAL, thanks in no small part to Wapellicans and Wapella.com. Sean should be receiving his dog in 9-12 months. The dog will surely make public appearances in the various tourist locations (elevator, church, etc.) around Wapella shortly after we get home from training. All said, the benefit raised over $11,000. WOW! Total donations have exceeded $17,000!!! Any money in excess of Sean's fundraising goals will go to help other children who are struggling to achieve their own goals.

THANK YOU ALL for what you have all done in Sean's behalf for 4 Paws For Ability and on the behalf of the other children who will benefit from your generosity.

Again - our thanks,
Steve and Shelby
